๐Ÿ’ฌ Texting and the shared inbox

The shared inbox, MMS, templates, and AI replies.

Every message here runs on a number you already own in your own Twilio or Telnyx account. TelBuddy adds the part the carrier console does not have: one shared place where a whole team can see and answer, instead of a single phone being passed around.

What a shared inbox changes

  • Conversations group by customer, not by teammate, so context does not vanish when someone is off.
  • Each person signs in as themselves. No shared password, and no shared handset.
  • MMS works on both carriers. Inbound photos and documents appear in the thread rather than as raw links.
  • Templates cover the messages you send constantly, and can carry an image.

Before you send real traffic

Read Compliance first. STOP is enforced by the carrier, but A2P 10DLC registration is yours to complete and unregistered traffic gets filtered.

AI draft and auto-reply modes are part of the optional AI add-on. Drafts are editable before sending in either mode.

When a message does not arrive

Three causes account for almost every missing message, and they look alike from the dashboard:

  • A2P 10DLC is not registered for that number. Carriers filter unregistered application traffic on local numbers, and it usually surfaces as a delivery error rather than as a warning.
  • The recipient opted out. STOP is enforced at the carrier, so the message never leaves. The thread shows a plain notice instead of a raw error code.
  • The content tripped a filter. Link shorteners, all-caps urgency and certain regulated words are spam signals to the carrier, not to TelBuddy.

Message length and what it costs

Carriers bill per segment, not per message. Plain text fits 160 characters in one segment, and 153 per segment once a message is long enough to be split. A single emoji or a curly quote switches the whole message to a different encoding, which drops those limits to 70 and 67. A message that looks only slightly too long can therefore cost twice what you expected, and that charge lands on your carrier bill rather than your TelBuddy plan.
