โœ… Compliance

A2P 10DLC and STOP/opt-out, explained honestly.

The short version, because it is the thing most often got wrong: TelBuddy does not register A2P 10DLC on your behalf. There is no form here that files it. Registration happens directly with your carrier, using your real legal business identity, and no dashboard can shortcut it.

What that means in practice

  • Brand and Campaign registration stays in your Twilio or Telnyx account.
  • Because it is tied to one legal entity, each business needs its own. Sub-accounts under one login do not inherit it.
  • Unregistered A2P traffic from a local number gets throttled or blocked, usually showing up as a delivery error rather than an obvious warning.
  • What TelBuddy does help with is the after: bulk-syncing messaging and voice settings across numbers you already registered.

Opt-outs

Both carriers enforce STOP at the carrier level automatically. On top of that, TelBuddy adds an unsubscribe line to the first outbound message to a number that has never texted in, and shows a plain-English "this customer opted out" notice instead of a raw carrier error.

Brand and Campaign, in plain terms

A Brand is your business as a legal entity: registered name, tax or company number, and address. It has to match public records, because that is what the vetting checks against. A Campaign is the reason you send messages, such as appointment reminders, delivery updates, or replies to customer questions. One brand can carry several campaigns.

None of it is instant. Brand vetting usually clears in a day or two, campaign approval can take longer, and a rejection tends to come back with very little detail about why. Start the process before you need it rather than in the week you plan to launch.

What the campaign description should say

Describe what you actually send, in words a customer would recognise, and include a real sample message. Vague descriptions get rejected more often than narrow ones. If you send several different kinds of message, say so, rather than picking the most respectable one and hoping the rest passes unnoticed.

Consent is the part nobody checks until it matters

You need a record of how each person agreed to be texted, and it has to predate the first message. A number typed into a web form counts only if the form said that messaging was part of it. A number copied off an invoice, bought in a list, or collected for an unrelated purpose does not, however legitimate the business relationship feels.

STOP handling protects you after the fact. Consent is the thing you are asked to produce if a complaint is ever escalated, and it is much easier to capture as you go than to reconstruct later.
