๐Ÿ”Œ Twilio and Telnyx on TelBuddy

How the bring-your-own-carrier model works.

TelBuddy does not issue phone numbers and does not resell carrier minutes. You bring Twilio, Telnyx, or both. Connecting a number only changes where that carrier sends messaging and voice notifications for that number. The number, the carrier rates, and A2P Brand and Campaign registration all stay in the carrier account. Disconnect TelBuddy and the number keeps working, because it never moved.

How to choose

  • Prefer Twilio when you already have numbers there, existing A2P history, or you need the ecosystem tooling most vendors assume.
  • Prefer Telnyx when their network and pricing suit your volume. Price your own traffic against each carrier's published rates rather than trusting a round number from anyone else.
  • For most small inboxes the carrier gap stays small until volume climbs. The gap they share is the same: neither ships a finished team inbox, IVR, or voicemail screen.

Honest differences inside TelBuddy

  • AI call transfer: on Twilio the AI can ring a whole team at once. On Telnyx an AI transfer dials one destination at a time.
  • Call history detail: see the side-by-side on Twilio vs Telnyx rather than assuming a retention window.

Connecting walkthroughs are in Getting Started. A2P stays with your carrier, covered under Compliance.
