Connect your Telnyx account
Connect your own Telnyx account with one API key, sync your numbers, and use the same TelBuddy dashboard you would on Twilio: shared inbox, forwarding, voicemail, business hours, and the IVR builder. AI receptionist features need the optional AI add-on, which is not part of the free trial.
Telnyx is optional and additive. Connecting it doesn't change or remove your existing Twilio setup. Use one, the other, or both.
Get Your Telnyx API Key
Grab a fresh API key from your Telnyx account. This is what TelBuddy uses to connect on your behalf.
- Log into your Telnyx account.
- Click your profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Click API Keys.
- Create a new API key and give it a label (e.g. "TelBuddy").
- Copy the key. You'll paste it into TelBuddy in the next step.
🔒 Your API key is encrypted in transit and stored securely. TelBuddy never shares your Telnyx credentials and only uses them to authenticate requests on your behalf.
Add It To TelBuddy
Where you paste the key depends on whether you already have a TelBuddy account.
Go to Teams & Numbers → API Keys tab, paste your Telnyx API key, and click Save & Verify.
Paste your key on the Onboarding screen, in the "Connect Telnyx" step. It's optional, so you can skip it and add it later if you'd rather.
Sync Your Numbers
Back on the Phone Numbers tab, click Sync from Telnyx. TelBuddy pulls in your numbers and configures the messaging and voice webhooks automatically. No manual setup.
What works on Telnyx today
Texting, call forwarding, voicemail, business-hours routing, the IVR builder, AI SMS draft/auto-reply, the AI Voice Receptionist, and the in-app outbound dialer all work the same regardless of carrier. See the full Telnyx support page for details.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to give up Twilio to use Telnyx?
No. Connecting Telnyx doesn't touch your Twilio setup at all. Use Twilio, Telnyx, or both under the same TelBuddy account.
How long does setup take?
A couple of minutes. Copy your API key from Telnyx, paste it into TelBuddy, then run number sync.
Do I need to configure webhooks manually?
No. Syncing your numbers configures the messaging and voice webhooks for you automatically.
Does everything work the same as Twilio?
Yes. Texting, forwarding, voicemail, business hours, the IVR builder, AI SMS draft and auto-reply, the AI Voice Receptionist, and the in-app dialer all work on either carrier. One difference if you use AI call transfer: on Telnyx the AI can dial one destination at a time, while simultaneous ring groups from an AI transfer are Twilio-only.
