Every Feature, In Detail

What a Telnyx Number Gets in TelBuddy.

💬

Two-Way Texting & Shared Team Inbox

Send and receive SMS and MMS on your Telnyx number in a shared inbox your whole team can use together. Replies, saved templates, and quick-insert are all built in.

📲

Call Forwarding & Backup Numbers

Forward a Telnyx number to any phone, set a backup number in case the first doesn't answer, and play a whisper message to whoever picks up before the call connects.

📥

Voicemail

Missed calls on a Telnyx number roll straight to voicemail, recorded and ready to play back from the same dashboard — no separate voicemail box to check.

🕒

Business-Hours Routing

Route calls one way during open hours and another way after hours or on days you're closed — voicemail, a different forwarding number, or a custom after-hours message, all from one setup screen.

🔢

Visual IVR / Phone Menu Builder

Build a "Press 1 for Sales, Press 2 for Support" phone menu with a drag-and-build visual editor — no code, no webhook wiring by hand, no developer required.

🤖

AI SMS Draft & Auto-Reply

The AI SMS assistant drafts replies for your team to review and send, or sends automatically in auto-reply mode — every draft editable before it goes out.

🎙️

AI Voice Receptionist

A caller to your Telnyx number can have a full two-way spoken conversation with TelBuddy's AI receptionist — not a menu, an actual back-and-forth conversation that answers questions and takes messages.

📞

In-App Outbound Dialer

Place outbound calls from a Telnyx number right inside TelBuddy — it rings your own phone first, then bridges you to whoever you're calling, with the Telnyx number as caller ID.

Why Telnyx

A Few Honest Reasons It's Worth Considering.

01

Lower Cost Per Message & Minute

Telnyx operates its own carrier network instead of aggregating across partners, and that typically shows up as meaningfully cheaper SMS and voice pricing in head-to-head comparisons.

02

Built-In Redundancy

Running numbers across two carriers means a business isn't dependent on a single provider's uptime or compliance review process for every number it owns.

03

Room to Grow

TelBuddy doesn't lock you into a rigid setup. Add numbers, add team members, add AI features whenever you're ready — your Telnyx account, your pace.

Under the Hood

How the Integration Actually Works.

For anyone curious what's actually wired up — this isn't a marketing claim, it's the real API surface TelBuddy talks to.

Numbers & Messaging

Telnyx's REST API (/v2/phone_numbers, /v2/messaging_profiles, /v2/messages) handles number sync and two-way SMS/MMS.

Voice Routing

Call forwarding, voicemail, business hours, and the IVR builder all run on Telnyx's TeXML Application platform, configured automatically the moment you sync your numbers.

Outbound Calling

The in-app dialer uses Telnyx's TeXML Calls API to place and bridge outbound calls, with an Outbound Voice Profile configured automatically per account.

AI Voice Receptionist

Real-time audio streams to TelBuddy's AI voice service over Telnyx's Media Streaming (WebSocket) protocol, bridging a live, two-way spoken conversation with the caller.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is TelBuddy?

TelBuddy is a business phone and texting dashboard that runs on your own Telnyx account. It adds a shared team inbox, call forwarding, voicemail, a visual IVR builder, and optional AI features on top of your Telnyx number — no code, no Telnyx developer console required.

Does TelBuddy resell Telnyx services or mark up usage?

No. TelBuddy is not a reseller of Telnyx numbers, minutes, messages, or any telecom capacity. Each customer connects their own, independently-created Telnyx account with their own API key, and pays Telnyx directly at Telnyx's own published rates. TelBuddy's only revenue is a flat monthly software subscription for the dashboard itself — entirely separate from, and never added on top of, Telnyx usage charges.

Is my Telnyx API key shared with other TelBuddy customers?

No. Every customer's Telnyx API key, phone numbers, and account data are isolated to their own company inside TelBuddy. Nothing is pooled, shared, or visible across accounts.

Do I need any coding experience to set this up?

No. Connecting a Telnyx account is a paste-in-your-API-key-and-sync process, and every feature after that — call forwarding, the IVR builder, business hours — is a point-and-click screen. No code, no TeXML, no webhook configuration by hand.

Can my whole team share one Telnyx number?

Yes. Every text and call on a Telnyx number shows up in one shared team inbox, so multiple people can see, reply to, and hand off conversations without stepping on each other.

Does the AI Voice Receptionist really hold a two-way conversation?

Yes. It's not a phone menu — the AI Voice Receptionist answers a call, listens, and responds in real time, holding an actual back-and-forth conversation with the caller.

Can I place outbound calls from my Telnyx number inside TelBuddy?

Yes. The in-app dialer rings your own phone first, then bridges you to whoever you're calling, with your Telnyx number as caller ID — no separate phone app or hardware needed.

What happens to my Telnyx numbers if I ever cancel TelBuddy?

They stay exactly where they are — in your own Telnyx account, which you control independently of TelBuddy. Cancelling only removes the dashboard layer on top; your numbers and Telnyx billing relationship are entirely unaffected.

Do Telnyx numbers need the same SMS registration (A2P 10DLC) as other US business numbers?

Yes — US business texting registration requirements like A2P 10DLC are set at the carrier/industry level, not by any single software provider, so they apply the same way to a Telnyx number as they would anywhere else.

How long does it take to get set up?

A few minutes. Paste in a Telnyx API key, save it, and use the Sync from Telnyx button to pull in your numbers — TelBuddy configures the messaging and voice webhooks automatically.

What does TelBuddy cost?

Membership starts at a flat monthly rate for the dashboard itself — see current plans on the pricing page. Telnyx usage (texts and minutes) is billed separately, directly by Telnyx, at their own rates.

I already have a Twilio account — do I have to switch?

No. TelBuddy supports both, side by side if you want. This page is about connecting Telnyx specifically.
