Aircall Alternative: Cloud Contact Center Seats, or BYO Carrier?
Aircall is a cloud contact center built around softphones, CRM CTI, and per-licence seats. If you searched for an Aircall alternative, the useful fork is whether you want that seat stack, or a flat software layer on a Twilio or Telnyx number you already own. If the second path is the one you mean, start from how a BYO carrier phone layer works.

What Aircall does well
They sell a polished cloud phone for teams that live in a CRM. Softphones, click-to-call, logging, coaching, and seat-level AI assist are the centre of gravity. That is a real product for support and sales desks that want the phone system to feel native inside HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar.
Public packaging is licence-based. As of the 9 September 2026 Offer schema check, Essentials is $30 per licence per month on annual billing and Professional is $50 per licence per month on annual billing, with a three-licence minimum. Custom starts at a 25-licence quote. Add-ons on the same page data include AI Assist at $9, AI Assist Pro at $49, Analytics+ at $15, and an AI Voice Agent bundle example at $175 for 500 minutes.
If your requirement is "our desk needs softphones wired into the CRM, with coaching and seat AI," Aircall is aimed at you. Nothing below pretends otherwise.
Where the gap is
Aircall is a contact-center seat product. That is a different job from answering the main business line on a number that already lives in your Twilio or Telnyx account.
A small business searching "Aircall alternative" often wants something narrower: keep the carrier and A2P work they already finished, get a shared inbox, phone menus, business hours, and optionally an AI receptionist that answers in a natural voice from their own knowledge base. That buyer is not shopping for a three-licence softphone floor or CRM CTI as the product itself.
Those are honest products. They just solve different mornings. For the BYO-carrier inbound shape, the compare hub is a clearer starting map than a contact-center feature list.
What the other shape looks like
If the job is inbound on numbers you already own, a flat software layer on your carrier looks like this:
One monthly software fee that does not mark up your carrier minutes or messages. Starter is $19.00 per month for two numbers and two seats (Growth $39.00, Commercial $79.00, Enterprise $149.00). Annual billing is ten months for twelve. Line and seat tables live on the pricing page.
Twilio and Telnyx, chosen per number, including both in the same account. Aircall's public story is their cloud contact center, not bring-your-own Twilio.
Phone menus, forwarding, voicemail, queues, business hours on the same number that texts.
An optional AI receptionist add-on with its own voice and message allowances. It is not included in any core plan, and it is not part of the free trial, because AI minutes cost real money to run. AI Starter is $19.99 per month for 100 AI voice minutes and 500 AI messages.
That last piece is the practical fork. If you need calls answered when you cannot answer them, on a number you already own, you are shopping for a receptionist layer. If you need CRM softphones for a desk of agents, you are shopping for Aircall.
Be honest about the maths
At a three-licence Essentials floor, you are already at $90 per month on annual Essentials pricing before Professional upgrades, AI Assist, Analytics+, or an AI Voice Agent bundle. That can be cheap for a real contact center. It is a lot for a two-person shop that only needed the website line answered at lunch.
Compare that to a flat $19.00 or $39.00 software fee plus your existing Twilio or Telnyx bill, and add the AI add-on only if you actually want voice answered automatically. Do the arithmetic with your headcount and licence floor, not theirs. The same "suite seats vs BYO phone layer" fork shows up in our Spoke comparison.
What switching actually involves
Ask Aircall (and any alternative) the same exit question before you sign: "If I cancel, are numbers in my own carrier account, or do I need to port?" Softphone and CRM CTI stacks often provision inside the vendor. Leaving can mean a porting project, not a webhook flip.
With a BYO Twilio or Telnyx setup, switching software is usually pointing webhooks somewhere else. Numbers stay where they are. Message history still needs an export if you are required to keep old threads.
Choosing between them
Choose Aircall if you need cloud softphones, CRM CTI, coaching, and seat-level AI for a contact-center desk, and a three-licence floor matches how you buy.
Choose TelBuddy if you already have Twilio or Telnyx, you want inbound voice and SMS on those numbers without a per-licence contact-center stack, and you may want an optional AI receptionist on top.
Choose neither if you need a full outbound power dialler wired into a sales CRM. That is a different category (see the Aloware comparison).
The wrong move is buying a three-licence contact center to solve "nobody answered the listing line," or buying a thin phone layer to solve "our agents need CRM softphones and coaching." Name the morning you are fixing first.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Aircall cost?
As checked on aircall.io/pricing on 9 September 2026 (Offer schema), Essentials is $30 per licence per month on annual billing and Professional is $50 per licence per month on annual billing, with a three-licence minimum. Custom starts at 25 licences. AI Assist is $9, AI Assist Pro $49, Analytics+ $15, and an AI Voice Agent bundle example is $175 for 500 minutes. Confirm monthly list prices and current promotions with Aircall.
Does Aircall let me bring my own Twilio or Telnyx?
Aircall is positioned as a cloud contact center with its own softphones, CRM CTI, and seat-based packaging. It is not a bring-your-own Twilio or Telnyx software layer. If keeping your carrier account and A2P registration is the requirement, compare BYO products instead.
Is TelBuddy AI receptionist included in core plans?
No. The AI receptionist is an optional add-on with its own allowances. It is not included in Starter, Growth, Commercial, or Enterprise, and it is not part of the free trial. AI Starter is $19.99 per month for 100 AI voice minutes and 500 AI messages.
When is TelBuddy the better fit than Aircall?
When you already own Twilio or Telnyx numbers, you want a flat software fee for shared inbox, menus, hours, and optional AI voice, and you do not need a multi-licence cloud contact center seat stack with CRM softphones as the centre of the product.
Skip the Twilio Console entirely
TelBuddy turns everything in this guide into point-and-click settings: IVR menus, forwarding, voicemail, webhooks, and A2P sync, on top of your own Twilio account.
